First Church offers several educational classes throughout the year, some on-going, some seasonal, like during Advent. We would like to know what you are interested in and any special classes you'd like to see First Church offer.

Our children are important aspects of the community at Wenatchee First United Methodist Church.   We seek to include them in every community event from our Faith@Work monthly mission program, Wednesday night dinners, and by participating in worship through music and drama.  As part of our ministry to our youth and children, we seek to help them grow into members of the church who will strive as disciples to build a community that seeks to know and love God and serve others.

We minister to our children through several programs:

6th through 12th grade Youth
Sundays 6:30-8:00pm

Amaze yourself! Become someone more loving, more compassionate, more forgiving, more faith-filled. Our youth group challenges and encourages youth to participate in a relationship with God and others. We want to build a youth group filled with opportunities for youth to experience the unbinding love of God and to offer them the  freedom to doubt, question and wonder about their own path.  We offer this through conversations, studies, service and mission trips. Accountability, character, and care are stressed in all that we do. We strive to help them continue to dream, develop and deploy their passions. We teach them how to become a young community of believers devoted to prayer, and fellowship. We base all things in love and healthy relationships, having none in need among us.  Basically, First Church Sr. High Youth Group is preparing youth to make a difference and continue to build God’s House: a movement that goes beyond the church walls.

Join leaders and friends in fun group interactions that will teach relevant Bible stories.

We believe the family to be the basic human community through which persons are nurtured and sustained in mutual love, responsibility, respect, and fidelity.

We affirm the importance of loving parents for all children. We also understand the family as encompassing a wider range of options than that of the two-generational unit of parents and children (the nuclear family). We affirm shared responsibility for parenting where there are two parents and encourage social, economic, and religious efforts to maintain and strengthen relationships within families in order that every member may be assisted toward complete personhood. Heart to Heart ministry is a program of our congregation that equips lay persons to provide Christian one to one care for those who are home bound or in care facilities.

That no one in the Body of Christ goes unnoticed, uncared for, or unloved. God has gifted many people among us with wonderful spiritual gifts. "Heart to Heart" is designed to equip persons for a ministry of caring and nurturing in their service to God and the church. Those who are gifted and willing, will provide care for people in need of prayer, time, and loving attention. This will be a model by which our congregation serves our community in God's mercy, love, and grace.
Our "Heart to Heart" team is designed to multiply our Christian care-giving and outreach. Working together with our ordained pastors, we will touch far more lives with Christian care than our clergy staff could possibly reach by themselves.
"Heart to Heart" Volunteers are committed Christians who
  • Make at least one personal contact per month with a person who is either shut in
    or in a care facility
  • Help those who are unable to attend worship services feel connected to the church
  • Communicates to the church office needs they become aware of
  • Make a one year commitment of service to the team
  • Meet regularly with each other for continuing education, support, and sharing
Contact the church office if you are interested in joining this important ministry
We have a dedicated group of people who come in after the newsletter has been produced and printed, to insert any special items, and fold and label the newsletters that get mailed out by 'snail-mail.' If you are interested in joining this team, contact the church office to inquire about getting on the list.  509.663.1607.
