Become A New Member at the Church You Love!

Being a Member of First Church Unity has many benefits, including voting rights, the ability to become a Board Member, as well as personal growth in your own Spirituality, among many other things.

The courses outlined below are required for membership.

Unity history, its basic teachings and principles, and a closer look at First Church Unity’s mission and vision make up the core of these courses. These courses are open to anyone desiring to know more about Unity or simply as a refresher course. Unity 101 is offered in three parts.

First: a weekend orientation Friday eve 7-9pm, Saturday 9am-2pm and Sunday 11am-2pm

Second: Two classes on two consecutive Wednesday evenings, using the book Unity a Quest for Truth by Rev Eric Butterworth, available in the Bookstore.

Third: New Members are received into Spiritual Baptism.

This course is offered twice a year in spring and fall.

Please complete the following:

1. Complete the form below or call the church office at 615-333-1323.

2. Attend the next scheduled weekend New Member Orientation**. The next scheduled orientation will be on November 5 at 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the House Classroom, November 6, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary (lunch will be provided), and November 7, 11 am - 2 pm in the Sanctuary (lunch will be provided.)

**Childcare is NOT available on Friday, November 5 or Saturday, November 6.

3. Purchase the book, Unity: A Quest For Truth, by Eric Butterworth in our bookstore.

4. Attend the class, Unity: A Quest For Truth*, with Rev. Cherie Larkin. The next scheduled class will be on November 10 & 17 at 7:00 pm in the House Classroom. Please check the church's Events calendar for details.

We will explore the principles of the Unity movement that distinguish us from other Christian philosophies. This class will be an enlightening experience that will provide you with tools for an abundant life. This class is also a required course for those desiring to become a member of First Church Unity. Application for new membership is not required and the class is open to everyone. *Childcare is available for this class

5. Begin "Sharing Your Heart in Sacred Service" in the area of your choice. Please complete the "Sharing Your Heart" questionnaire (click here) and see Michelle Williams, Volunteer Coordinator, to be placed in Worshipful Service.

6. Receive Membership and Spiritual Baptism during the Sunday service these ceremonies are scheduled: December 5 at the 11:00 am services.
